Peter Desmond and Chris Lee took it upon themselves to go on an adventure in Australia and New Zealand. This was caused by a number of factors: firstly, Jo, their youngest daughter, and Hamish decided to get married in Sydney in November 2012; secondly, they sold their house in August 2011 and had still not bought another one a year later; thirdly, they were up for a challenge. So off they went; they said goodbye to family members and, just like excited teenagers on a gap year, they packed a couple of suitcases and journeyed over 10,000 miles to Sydney. From there they plan to go north to the Great Barrier Reef (visiting Aunty Edna in Brisbane en route), South to Melbourne and Tasmania, and finally to New Zealand for 3 weeks taking Jo, Hamish and his parents with them for Christmas and New Year. So on their return to the UK at the end of January 2013, they will be changed people – as will be their underwear (hopefully!).
